The Enste weighted blanket: which outer cover do I need?
Suratec is extremely durable and is therefore ideal in therapy practices and clinics as well as for people with particular behavioural patterns. Suratec is a very low-maintenance and hard-wearing artificial fibre, however, it is also not breathable and is therefore well suited to short-term and daytime use. In comparison, a weighted blanket with a cotton cover is breathable and therefore ideal for use at night and at home.
How do you clean the Enste weighted blanket?
The cover can be washed at temperatures up to 60 degrees and the weight bags up to 30 degrees.
When should the Enste weighted blanket be used?
Weighted blankets are used in the treatment of sensory integration disorders to improve body awareness and for proprioception. Sensations are felt through targeted sensory input, promoting the development and organisation of adaptive behaviour.
In diseases affecting the central nervous system, targeting the spasticity relieves the tension in the skeletal muscles. Also gives positive results in cases of cognitive and cerebral conditions.
Weighted blankets are used in "attachment therapy" to treat people with symptoms of autism, among other things. This also involves stimulus (proprioceptive) feedback combined with emotional support.
The weight of the blanket on the body changes how stimuli are processed and this often improves self awareness. The weight and length of treatment influence sensitivity, acceptance and how stimuli are processed.
Using the blanket at night helps you to sleep through the whole night on a regular basis.
Examples of how to use:
Roll up the blanket, wrap it around you, roll around on it, pull yourself out from it, cover individual parts of your body with it, move individual parts of your body around under the blanket – or simply lie with the blanket over you and relax.
