Increasing the beam’s width from 10 cm to 20 cm boosts the athlete’s confidence and stability, allowing them to fully focus on new exercises, such as back handsprings and somersaults. The red line down the centre serves as an orientation aid, helping the gymnast to execute the moves cleanly.
