The snap hook is used to attach a personal fall protection harness to an anchor point and is therefore essential PPE (Professional Protection Equipment) against falls.
The snap hook has a self-closing safety fastener. A spring mechanism stops the snap lock from opening accidentally.

Advice on use
To open the snap hook, turn the nut down at least 4 times and then press the hook bolt. To lock the snap hook, click the hook bolt into place and screw the nut upwards until it locks.
