Headis – the popular new sport
Headis is a mixture of headers, table tennis and tennis. It is played using a conventional table tennis table, but with a special, reinforced net and a special ball that can only be touched with your head. Headis combines the tactical elements of tennis, the leg-work of table tennis and heading the ball like in football. Speed, endurance and dexterity are required. The rules are similar to those of table tennis and are easy to learn. Officially, two sets are required to win. A set is won when a player has 11 points. If both players have 10 points, then the first player to get a two-point lead wins. The ball has to touch the opponent's half of the table before a point can be won. Unlike with table tennis, touching the table and volleys are both permitted, which allows spectacular diving headers.
