The Handi Life Sport blind football: football with a twist
The Handi Life Sport blind football is a rattling ball made of high-gloss PU with a printed design in certified colours. The bounce is reduced like with a futsal ball. The ball is also slowed down by the 6 rattling areas inside the ball, meaning it complies with the rules and regulations of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA). The aim is to get the ball into the opponent’s 3x2-m goal. Two referees, who are located on the sidelines, direct the match. Because there are no boards, the futsal ball can leave the field. The difference between it and football is that the ball is kicked onto the field rather than thrown in.
How does blind football actually work?
In blind football, each team is made up of four blind field players and a fully or partially sighted goalkeeper. The rattles in the ball allow the players to locate the futsal ball. The coach, goalkeeper and a guide shout out instructions to the field players. If an opposing player approaches the player with the ball, thy must shout "Voy" ("I’m approaching"). A match has two halves of 25 minutes each with a 10-minute break. Each team can take one time-out per half. Only actual playing time is counted.
